Description
The MEHR Action for Children and Youth Foundation continuously awards grants within the framework of its basic and impulse funding to registered non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public bodies in Lower Saxony, with a focus on Hanover and the surrounding area. Projects and institutions that sustainably improve the living conditions of children and young people are supported. Basic funding ensures long-term planning security, while impulse funding supports one-time actions with immediate financial assistance. Eligible to apply are recognized independent non-profit organizations or comparable institutions based in Germany that can demonstrate at least 20% own funds to implement measures after the application is submitted. Grants of up to €25,000 per year can be awarded and primarily cover material costs and, upon request, personnel costs. Refinancing of additional costs and projects that have started before the application submission are not permitted.
For the application, a substantive description of the project, a cost estimate, a financing plan, and proof of own funds must be submitted. Since there are no fixed deadlines, submissions are possible at any time. After approval, payment is made upon submission of due invoices and a legally binding declaration of earmarked use. Funding is particularly provided for initiatives in the areas of social behavior, violence and extremism prevention, support for seriously ill and abuse-affected children, healthy nutrition, education, as well as commitment to social cohesion and democracy. The foundation reserves the right to review and request additional documentation to ensure proper use and thus supports local actors who specifically contribute to strengthening young people.
