Support of the Per Mertesacker Foundation

The funding from the Per Mertesacker Foundation supports socially disadvantaged children in the Hanover region, employing an integrative approach that combines sports, educational measures, and language promotion. The focus of the initiative is on children and adolescents who have special support needs due to learning difficulties, less privileged social backgrounds, or migration backgrounds. Through the team sport of football, not only physical fitness and team spirit are fostered, but social skills are also strengthened. At the same time, the young participants benefit from individual learning support and targeted language instruction, thereby creating long-term prospects in education and integration.

The sponsorship concept is aimed at non-profit organizations implementing projects within the Hanover region. The funding aims to secure not only sporting activities but also academic and linguistic progress – a holistic approach that sustainably supports both personal development and social integration. Football, as a popular team sport event, creates a space where children can celebrate successes together, develop self-confidence, and thrive in a supportive environment. This is complemented by accompanying educational programs tailored specifically to the individual needs of the children.

The funding period for this project extends over 120 months, providing sufficient time to achieve profound and sustainable improvements in the lives of young people. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, allowing interested organizations to join this supportive initiative at any time. The Per Mertesacker Foundation is thus sustainably committed to the areas of children and youth, migration, sport, as well as work and social affairs – complemented by cultural and media aspects. This initiative combines sporting enthusiasm and educational support, offering a valuable contribution to social integration and education in Lower Saxony.
