Description

Since 2006, the Palatine Catholic Church Foundation in Heidelberg has been specifically promoting structural renovation and preservation measures for churches, chapels, and parish houses in the formerly Electoral Palatinate part of Baden. The foundation's goal is the sustainable protection of historic building fabric in order to preserve the cultural heritage of the Archdiocese of Freiburg. Within the area of responsibility, which extends from the Tauber Valley to the gates of Karlsruhe, public institutions and non-profit organizations can apply for grants for restoration work, maintenance, and preservation measures. Funding is awarded on an ongoing basis and is governed by the funding guidelines, which set requirements regarding location, ownership or usage rights, and application submission by the respective parish.

Eligible for funding are parishes located or with parish territory in the formerly Electoral Palatinate part of Baden, which are owners or users entitled to the objects to be renovated. Only public institutions and non-profit organizations are entitled to apply. Eligible expenses include all structural measures that serve the preservation and securing of historic church, chapel, and parish house buildings. Through continuous support of committed parishes, the foundation contributes to the revitalization of church properties and the strengthening of regional identity. Applications can be submitted at any time once the formal requirements – proof of location, ownership or usage rights, and proof of non-profit status – are met.
