Description
Since its founding in the early 19th century, the Archiepiscopal Seminary Fund has supported the training of future priests in the Archdiocese of Freiburg. With a focus on education, training, and further education, the foundation supports the operation of the Archiepiscopal Priestly Seminary Collegium Borromaeum in Freiburg as well as the maintenance of the buildings designated for this purpose. In addition, it provides other ecclesiastical legal entities with land and real estate free of charge to enable their ecclesiastical training and proclamation tasks. The funding is aimed at public institutions and non-profit organizations in Baden-Württemberg, particularly at the Collegium Borromaeum and other church bodies responsible for priestly training.
Funding applications can be submitted at any time before the start of the project. A prerequisite is a clearly defined application in terms of content, timing, and finances, including a detailed project description, cost calculation, and financing proposal, as well as the applicant’s own contribution of existing funds and previous grants. After approval, disbursement is made as a grant in one-time or partial payments, accompanied by the submission of invoices or cost estimates. A new application is generally possible no earlier than twelve months after the last funding. Eligible for funding are operating costs of the seminary, maintenance measures for the training buildings, as well as the provision of land and real estate. A final proof of use with a project report and accounting is mandatory. Through clear funding guidelines and continuous support, the Archiepiscopal Seminary Fund makes a sustainable contribution to securing and further developing ecclesiastical priestly training in the region.
