Funding of the Ricarda and Udo Niedergerke Foundation (Aid for People in Need)

The Ricarda and Udo Niedergerke Foundation supports projects in Lower Saxony with a continuous grant model that sustainably assist people in acute distress in the Hanover region. The focus is on housing and homelessness assistance, medical care, migration and refugee aid, as well as child and family support. Funding is provided to non-profit organizations and public institutions as well as private individuals who can prove their residence in Hanover or the surrounding area. The goal is to enable people without secure living space, migrants, and refugees to live a self-determined life with dignity and to strengthen their social participation. The foundation cooperates with local partners such as the Diaconal Work, Caritas, and the Workers' Welfare Association to offer tailored support services – ranging from swimming courses for women with a refugee background to the furnishing of sickrooms and individual case assistance for families in existential crises.

Applications can be submitted at any time and are granted as non-repayable subsidies. Eligible for funding are initiatives and projects that address a clearly defined need for the homeless, migrants, or families in need and contribute to strengthening social infrastructure. The foundation places particular emphasis on transparent concepts that ensure both short-term emergency aid and long-term stabilization opportunities. Through this funding initiative, the Ricarda and Udo Niedergerke Foundation makes a significant contribution to poverty alleviation and the reduction of social exclusion – always with the aim of giving a voice to people on the margins of society and providing them with genuine access to health, education, and integration.
