Description
The Saxon Foundation for Media Education (SSM) supports non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and students residing in Saxony with research projects, educational and training measures, as well as scholarships and competitions in the media sector. Projects in the fields of media education, media pedagogy, and new information and communication technologies are eligible for funding. Applications for non-repayable grants can be submitted annually by August 15. Eligible expenses include project-related costs, personnel expenses, and material costs; a minimum co-financing of 20% as well as a secured financial plan including proof of third-party funding are prerequisites. Full financing and projects already underway are excluded. The foundation covers up to 80% of eligible costs to strengthen innovation and the level of training in the Free State of Saxony.*
The selection is based on the quality of the concept, the contribution to the attractiveness of Saxony as a media location, and the appropriateness of the requested services. Special award criteria apply for scholarships: proof of insufficient financial means, qualification, and permanent residence in Saxony. Competitions and award ceremonies are funded provided they serve young talent in the aforementioned fields and their concept includes clear objectives, selection procedures, and budget plans. The foundation emphasizes transparency and cost-effectiveness: partial payments are made only after proof of use, and results must be made freely accessible. The board of trustees decides on the allocation within the available funds; there is no legal entitlement. Documents such as a detailed concept, financial plan, and proofs must be submitted in multiple copies.*
