Promotion of Self-Regulation in Commercial Communication

The funding initiative supports recognized self-regulatory bodies in the field of commercial communication in Austrian media to sustainably secure their independence. Funding is provided for the fulfillment of statutory tasks as well as the effective enforcement of decisions and resolutions. Through annual funding of up to €100,000, it is ensured that self-regulatory bodies can exercise their supervisory functions transparently and competently. The continuous funding option enables long-term planning and strengthening of self-regulation.

Eligible to apply are non-profit organizations and other entities recognized as self-regulatory bodies in the field of commercial communication. Essential requirements include broad representation of the affected professional groups as well as transparency regarding decision-making bases, procedural processes, and enforcement mechanisms. Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis, allowing bodies to apply for funding at any time. The target group is particularly those self-regulatory bodies that ensure balanced participation of relevant stakeholders and maintain their independence from economic and political influences. Through this funding, the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport makes a significant contribution to the effective implementation of ethical standards in the media industry.
