Funding of the Somborn Foundation

Since 1983, the Somborn Foundation has been promoting the preservation and further development of the medical care standards at the Eye Clinic in Mülheim an der Ruhr with funds from a donation by Linde Somborn. In particular, innovative procedures and therapies in the field of retinal diseases are supported to guarantee patients treatment at the highest professional standard. Through continuous financial contributions, the foundation helps to establish the latest diagnostic and surgical methods as well as to enable specialized training for medical and nursing staff. Thus, the funding makes a significant contribution to strengthening healthcare in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Eligible for funding are public institutions, with the allocation of grants restricted to projects and measures of the Eye Clinic of the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr. The available grants can be applied for continuously and focus on the thematic areas of health, work & social affairs. For an application, the “General Guidelines for Grants for Project Funding” in their current version must be attached. The foundation relies on transparent criteria and professional evaluation of the projects to secure and further develop the medical standard in the long term.
