Description
The state of Brandenburg supports companies in the field of agriculture & rural development with a grant of €60 per large livestock unit (LSU) per year to promote particularly animal-friendly husbandry methods in livestock farming. Funding is provided for dairy cattle (female cattle from 6 months of age) and beef cattle that have daily pasture access with free access to drinking water for five consecutive months (01.05.–30.11.). The prerequisite is that the business location and animals are situated in the state of Brandenburg. The measure covers a commitment period of twelve months; applications must be submitted annually by December 1st (for the year 2024 by 30.06.2024) to the approval authority. Funding amounts below €500 will not be paid out; the upper limit is €20,000 per business and year. Financing is provided as a fixed-amount grant within the framework of project funding according to the Agricultural De Minimis Regulation.
The objective of the measure is to adapt to increasing requirements for sustainable agricultural production, to safeguard natural resources, and to ensure animal welfare. The process includes the annual application submission to the State Office for Rural Development, Agriculture and Land Consolidation (LELF) as well as the timely submission of payment-relevant documents: application form, guideline notes, declaration "Company in Difficulty," pasture and stable diary, livestock inventory record, and monthly cattle reports as proof of use. The funding creates incentives to strengthen the competitiveness of animal welfare-oriented farms and to establish animal-friendly summer pasture management in the long term.
