Description
Since 2002, the Sparkassen Foundation for Social Affairs and the Environment has supported non-profit initiatives in Saxony with a focus on child and youth work, nature and environmental protection, landscape conservation, environmental education, and since autumn 2024, also animal welfare projects. Funding applications can be submitted by associations, interest groups, public and educational institutions, provided the project location is in the district of Central Saxony and a current tax exemption certificate is available. Both project-related expenses and material resources for charitable institutions such as elderly care, nursing, or homeless shelters are funded. The foundation aims to strengthen sustainable initiatives that generate tangible benefits for the respective target groups and align with the statutory purposes.
Grants are awarded semi-annually with deadlines on March 31, 2026 and September 30, 2026. Applicants must submit a complete application for financial support, tax exemption certificate, statutes, and extract from the register of associations. Selection criteria include alignment with the foundation’s purposes, sustainability aspects, and the concrete benefit for children, youth, people with disabilities, seniors, or homeless individuals. Funded projects are implemented within the areas of work & social affairs, energy efficiency & climate protection, education & training, as well as environmental and animal protection. Interested organizations receive not only financial resources from the Sparkassen Foundation but also valuable impulses for long-term engagement in the social and environmental sectors.
