Description
Since its founding on December 23, 1992, the Sparkassenstiftung Erfurt has supported a wide range of initiatives that enrich the social life in the state capital Erfurt. As a legally capable foundation under civil law, it has extensive revenues available to promote charitable projects in various fields. The foundation focuses on supporting projects in the areas of culture, science, sports, environmental and climate protection, youth development, healthcare, welfare and elderly care, as well as building and monument preservation. A special emphasis is placed on strengthening civic engagement in the region. Eligible for funding are exclusively non-profit associations or legal entities that can provide proof of non-profit status from the tax office.
The Sparkassenstiftung supports self-contained individual projects that offer a direct added value to the regional community and sustainably promote civic engagement. The funding priorities include, in addition to classic cultural and scientific projects, initiatives in the fields of sports and physical activity promotion, environmental and nature conservation, and various measures benefiting children, youth, and socially disadvantaged groups. Furthermore, projects in the areas of building and monument preservation, infrastructure, or innovative research endeavors may also be supported. A targeted and transparent application process ensures that funding requests can be submitted via a structured online form, taking into account all relevant information such as project description, cost and financing plan, as well as necessary documentation.
Within the framework of funding practice, applicants are carefully evaluated according to established criteria. In addition to the regional significance of the project, particular weight is given to an appropriate level of own contribution in the decision-making process. A prerequisite for funding is that the project is carried out in the state capital Erfurt and pursues a charitable purpose in accordance with the tax code. Funding requests can be submitted at two fixed dates each year – by February 15 and September 15 – which allows good planning for project sponsors. Through this funding measure, the foundation makes a sustainable contribution to regional development and strengthens civil society engagement by granting selected projects financial subsidies to realize their visionary endeavors.
