Description
The Quality Initiative for Sports Boarding Schools of the Sports Foundation NRW supports selected sports boarding schools in North Rhine-Westphalia with an annual personnel cost subsidy of up to €75,000. Public institutions and non-profit organizations that combine elite youth sports with academic education can continuously submit funding applications via the digital DokuMe portal. The goal is to optimally promote young athletes through 24/7 care provided by pedagogically and professionally qualified staff. The focus is on achieving high pedagogical, athletic, and organizational standards to unite holistic personal development and academic excellence with top-level sports performance.
Funded measures include full-time and part-time personnel costs in the pedagogical and supervisory areas, night and weekend care, as well as individual follow-up tutoring. Prerequisites include, among others, the submission of an operating license, a detailed pedagogical concept with preventive measures against sexualized violence, binding care contracts, documented communication with parents, schools, and elite sports institutions, as well as integration into the school & elite sports network system. A minimum scope of ten supervised squads per boarding school and the assurance of medical, physiotherapeutic, nutritional, and sports psychological care complete the quality requirements. Evaluation is based on compliance with the funding guidelines, an appropriate supervision ratio, and transparent pedagogical processes. With this funding initiative, the Sports Foundation NRW contributes to strengthening the elite sports location and creates reliable framework conditions for the next generation of top athletes.
