Description

The St. Georg Foundation Sottrum supports the ecclesiastical and diaconal life in the Evangelical Lutheran St. Georg parish Sottrum through continuous grants for projects in the areas of youth welfare, elderly care, preservation of church buildings, as well as securing personnel positions. Funding is exclusively provided to non-profit, public institutions in Lower Saxony that belong to the St. Georg parish and whose offerings reach all villages within the catchment area. The foundation's goal is to compensate for the parish's financial resources in light of declining regional church funds and thus sustainably enable social, cultural, and intergenerational initiatives. Donations and endowments flow directly into the foundation’s capital or into specific projects, making a valuable contribution to strengthening the local community.

Eligible expenses particularly include personnel costs, material expenses, as well as measures for the maintenance and renovation of buildings. Since applications can be submitted at any time and there are no fixed deadlines, the foundation offers maximum flexibility for planning ecclesiastical and diaconal activities. Through its ongoing funding opportunities, the foundation makes a decisive contribution to ensuring that the church remains in the village and can continue to develop. Public institutions are invited to submit innovative projects that strengthen community cohesion in the region and enrich cultural life. In this way, the St. Georg Foundation Sottrum can create a reliable long-term basis for church engagement and secure diaconal work on site.
