Description
The funding from the Focke-Museum Foundation enables the Association for the Promotion of the Focke-Museum e.V. to selectively acquire historical and applied art objects to expand the collection of the Bremen State Museum. As a non-profit organization based in Bremen, the association thus fulfills its statutory tasks: the tangible cultural heritage of the Hanseatic city is preserved through the targeted acquisition of significant exhibits and made accessible for research and exhibitions. Only the registered association is eligible for funding, which in recent years has already been able to acquire a variety of objects – from early photographs to silver works by renowned artists. The funding is provided as a grant and is exclusively aimed at non-profit organizations within the Bremen region in the field of culture and museums.
Applications for funding can be submitted continuously and are processed through the association’s office. Applications are submitted for acquisitions that strengthen the collection profile of the Focke-Museum in its role as Bremen’s State Museum for Art and Cultural History. The goal is to further expand the city’s collective memory through the acquisition of unique pieces and to make it accessible to future generations. Through sustainable support of collecting activities, the foundation makes a significant contribution to the preservation and communication of regional cultural history and thus promotes scholarly engagement with the collections.
