Funding of the GEO-Center Foundation at the KTB (Environmental Station & Educational Work)

The funding from the GEO-Center Foundation at the KTB supports the state-recognized environmental station in the heart of Bavaria through grants and endowments. As a public-law institution, the foundation promotes non-profit oriented sponsoring organizations, particularly foundations and public institutions, that carry out projects in the fields of environmental and nature conservation, education for sustainable development, research & innovation, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection. The continuously available subsidies aim to secure the long-term financing of the GEO-Center at the Continental Deep Drilling Site (KTB) and to ensure the preservation of the historic drilling tower as a place of learning. This provides valuable impulses for training and further education as well as innovative research approaches in the geosciences.

The funding offer is aimed at school classes, teachers, and visitors of all ages who wish to utilize geoscientific and environmental educational programs. Supported are interactive student laboratories, multi-day seminar courses with field excursions, as well as training for educators in cooperation with the Bavarian Academy for Nature Conservation and Landscape Management. Permanent and temporary exhibitions on topics such as "Earth System," "Drilling Technology and Its Applications," or "Mineral Resources" invite visitors to independently explore complex interrelationships. Through the financial support of the GEO-Center, a vibrant learning space is created in which sustainable environmental awareness, innovative research, and scientific expertise are closely interlinked. Interested institutions can submit their applications at any time and thus contribute to the long-term success of the educational project.
