The Lulu and Robert Bartholomay Foundation supports needy and disadvantaged groups in Hamburg with straightforward grants. The focus is on socially disadvantaged children and young people up to 21 years of age (from 16 years with a valid school certificate), students up to the age of 27, as well as elderly people aged 60 and over. Additionally, non-profit and publicly organized institutions, such as kindergartens, nursing and care homes, or student residences, are supported in the implementation of specific projects. Timely approval is intended to ensure that funds reach those who need them most urgently. The urgency of the need, proof of financial hardship, and clarity of the project proposal play a central role in this process.

Submissions are possible at any time and must be made in writing by post or email using the official application form. Supporting documents include income statements (e.g., social assistance notice, pay slip), a registration certificate, school certificate from age 16, as well as an endorsement from an institution in the youth welfare or social sector. For institutions, the commitment of the representatives is also a criterion for evaluation. The funding amount is determined according to individual need and the specific project plan. Through this ongoing allocation practice, the foundation contributes to strengthening social participation and enabling sustainable assistance for all target groups in Hamburg.
