Description
The Starke Lunge Foundation nationwide supports innovative projects aimed at improving diagnostics, therapy, and research for rare pediatric lung diseases such as bronchiolitis obliterans. Educational institutions, public bodies, and non-profit organizations may apply for grants on an ongoing basis, provided they collaborate closely with a competence center or a university children's hospital. Supported activities include the collection of datasets in specialized databases, laboratory analyses (for example, microRNA investigations), as well as the organization of scientific workshops. Scientific exchange and networking among experts contribute to sustainably improving the care of affected children and their families.
The funding focuses on strengthening a nationwide expert network in Germany and generating new insights in the field of rare lung diseases. Project proposals are evaluated based on their relevance to diagnostics and therapy, innovation potential, and contribution to professional exchange. The continuous availability of funding enables long-term planning and support of research projects, practice-oriented diagnostic initiatives, and interdisciplinary events. In doing so, the Starke Lunge Foundation makes an important contribution to enhancing the quality of life of young patients and establishing practical solutions for rare lung diseases.
