Funding of the Foundation for the Preservation and Promotion of the Aramaic Cultural Heritage

The Foundation for the Preservation and Promotion of the Aramaic Cultural Heritage continuously supports projects aimed at the transmission, preservation, and further development of the Aramaic language, as well as the conservation of tangible and cultural artifacts in Tur Abdin. As a nationwide funding initiative, support is exclusively directed towards non-profit organizations, educational institutions, foundations, public entities, and private individuals engaged in innovative and sustainable endeavors in the fields of education, research, culture, infrastructure, and monument preservation. Grants can be applied for at any time following prior consultation and cover a broad spectrum—from the creation of teaching materials and curricula to the training and further education of teachers, as well as the design of scientific studies on Aramaic culture and language.

The focus is primarily on measures that promote a living cultural language: these include the development of bilingual daycare centers, advanced language courses for youth and adults, and the establishment of an affiliated institute for Aramaic studies. Furthermore, the foundation supports projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure and creating jobs in the Aramaic heartland of Tur Abdin, as well as the restoration and maintenance of historic churches and monastery complexes. A prerequisite for funding is prior contact for individual project consultation and a clear project connection to the transmission, preservation, or development of the Aramaic cultural heritage. With this broadly structured funding program, the foundation makes a sustainable contribution to the protection of a living cultural language over 3,000 years old and its material roots.
