Description

The Animal Welfare Foundation Bochum supports non-profit associations and interest groups in Bochum and the Ruhr area that are dedicated to the protection and welfare of wild and domestic animals. With a focus on environmental education, initiatives receive financial support for measures such as the care of injured wildlife, species-appropriate housing of abandoned pets, or the preservation of natural habitats. In addition, educational projects for children and youth are funded to raise awareness of sustainable animal husbandry and habitat conservation. Eligibility criteria include the applicant’s location or activity within the specified region and a clear project focus on animal welfare or environmental education. Evaluation is based on relevance to animal welfare, sustainability, and feasibility of implementation.

Applications can be submitted at any time and are granted in the form of a subsidy. Through its long-term funding guidelines, the program contributes to reducing animal suffering and sensitizing the public to responsible behavior towards fellow creatures. Particularly committed initiatives may also be nominated for the annually awarded Animal Welfare Founder’s Prize, which honors exemplary voluntary engagement. This funding provides associations and initiatives in the Ruhr area with a stable financial resource to expand existing projects or realize new, innovative concepts in the fields of animal welfare and environmental education. Interested organizations are invited to continuously submit their funding applications and thereby actively contribute to the protection of wildlife and the environment in their home region.
