Promotion of Tourism Development

In Saxony-Anhalt, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry is initiating a forward-looking initiative with the promotion of tourism development, supporting companies, public institutions, interest groups, associations, non-profit organizations, and foundations in investments in rural areas. The funding covers tourism marketing, digitalization, infrastructure and urban development projects, as well as measures in agriculture & rural development. As a grant, it covers up to 90 percent of eligible expenses, and for investment and marketing companies even up to 100 percent, enabling an annual funding amount of up to 200,000 euros. The project duration may be up to 36 months, with a minimum volume of 10,000 euros required.

A prerequisite for grant approval is the implementation of the project in Saxony-Anhalt in accordance with the Tourism Master Plan Saxony-Anhalt 2027. Eligible applicants are districts, independent cities, municipalities, municipal associations, regional tourism associations, city and regional marketing companies, as well as private and public-law foundations. An informal funding inquiry must be submitted by October 30 (or June 30 for regional associations) for the following year; thereafter, the complete application must be submitted in due time before the project start. Accessible labeling of sustainable offers on websites, own or third-party co-financing, as well as ensuring overall financing including follow-up costs, are among the central requirements. Through this funding, long-term competitive tourism structures and effective networks can be established, sustainably strengthening Saxony-Anhalt as a travel destination.
