Funding of the Vertical Foundation

The funding provided by the Vertical Foundation is aimed at non-profit organizations, educational institutions, public bodies, foundations, interest groups, and associations throughout Germany. With a focus on education, arts & culture, as well as science & research, the foundation supports projects that strengthen democratic values, promote social cohesion, and integrate environmental and climate protection into educational work. As a continuous grant program, the Vertical Foundation offers financial resources without fixed application deadlines, placing special emphasis on sustainability and networking. Previous initiatives have ranged from theater education programs in schools to peatland conservation projects, naturopathic studies in clinical settings, and talent scouting programs for disadvantaged youth.

Funding applications can be submitted at any time, provided that non-profit status is proven and the project is relevant to the defined thematic areas. Required are a fully completed funding application, a precise project description, a realistic financing plan, and proof of non-profit status. Selection is based on alignment with the foundation’s objectives, the design of democratic educational content, the inclusion of environmental and climate protection measures, as well as the expected sustainable impact and networking.
