Funding of the Wajekama Foundation (including housing projects in Berlin)

The Wajekama Foundation supports the coexistence of people with and without disabilities in Berlin by promoting inclusive housing projects. As a grant provider, it accompanies the founding and implementation of communal living arrangements where professional staff are available and encounters on equal footing are facilitated. The foundation aims to practically implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and to dismantle barriers in everyday life. Both non-profit organizations and private individuals are eligible for funding. Applications can be submitted continuously, allowing project initiators to promptly secure financing decisions. Funding covers not only operational costs but also public relations efforts to make inclusion visible to the public.

A prerequisite for funding is a location in Berlin as well as a developed concept for inclusive shared housing with a qualified assistance and care team. Additionally, the inclusion aspect and accessibility must be demonstrated. Eligible expenses include, among others, assistance and care costs, furnishing and equipping the shared housing, and communication measures for public relations. Evaluation focuses on the degree of actual inclusion, long-term sustainability, and a realistic financing and care concept. For the application, a detailed project description, a cost and financing plan, and a concept paper for the planned housing project must be submitted. The Wajekama Foundation thus makes a forward-looking contribution to the realization of inclusive living arrangements in Berlin.
