Funding of the Waldemar Bonsels Foundation (READING – KNOWLEDGE – ART)

The Waldemar Bonsels Foundation supports non-profit organizations with a focus on promoting reading, children's and youth literature, science/research, as well as art and culture. Through its funding program, which is anchored in the foundation's charitable purposes in the fields of education, research & innovation, science, culture, and vocational training, projects ranging from reading promotion to cultural mediation events, research work, or artistic initiatives are supported. Both institutions from cultural and scientific sectors as well as non-profit associations, libraries, or educational providers can apply for a grant. The support aims to strengthen literary and artistic access for children and young people, finance new research approaches, and sustainably expand cultural offerings.

A prerequisite for submitting an application is prior registration in the foundation's non-public online application portal. Funding applications can be submitted from August 17, 2026 to September 30, 2026. The planned project must be situated within the thematic areas of reading, knowledge, or art and correspond to the charitable objectives of the Waldemar Bonsels Foundation. Interested project sponsors should observe the formal guidelines and provide their project outline, budget overview, as well as documentation proving non-profit status. The selection process is based on the professional quality, degree of innovation, and social relevance of the project. With the grant, supported initiatives receive valuable assistance to implement their ideas throughout Germany and to sustainably realize impactful educational and cultural projects.
