Description

The funding provided by the Wegrand Foundation is aimed at non-profit organizations, private individuals, interest groups, associations, and foundations throughout Germany that are committed to social participation, equality, and the practical implementation of human rights. As a continuously open grant, the foundation supports initiatives, projects, and groups in the fields of social affairs, engagement for social cohesion and democracy, migration, promotion of women, as well as child and youth welfare. Projects aimed at anti-discrimination, addressing Nazi injustices, combating racism, and strengthening gender equality are funded. Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing for diverse approaches that reduce disadvantages and strengthen democratic culture.

The focus of the funding is on improving the participation of people facing social, linguistic, educational, professional, or cultural barriers, as well as supporting politically persecuted individuals and refugees, especially victims of torture and war. Projects implementing educational and political measures for the prevention and processing of violence and racism or sustainably strengthening the rights of LSBTIQ* persons are explicitly encouraged. Additionally, the Wegrand Foundation supports research, documentation, and publications to stimulate societal debates and advance historical remembrance work. By providing both non-material and financial resources, the foundation contributes to promoting self-determined action and solidarity within civil society, as well as facilitating long-term networking.
