Funding for attending preparatory courses for the final apprenticeship examination

The nationwide funding supports participation in quality-assured preparatory courses for the final apprenticeship examination with a subsidy covering 100% of the course costs. Up to €250 (including any applicable VAT) per course participation will be covered. The objective of this measure is to specifically strengthen the dual training system by optimally preparing apprentices in eligible companies for the final examination. The provision of professionally reviewed and recognized high-quality courses enables a sustainable increase in success rates in final apprenticeship examinations and contributes to reducing youth unemployment.

The funding is aimed at apprentices in private-sector companies; excluded are trainees according to § 30 BAG, public authorities, and political parties. Applications can be submitted at any time, as no fixed deadlines are set. Both individuals and companies enabling their apprentices to attend courses are eligible for funding. Eligible expenses include exclusively the course fees including VAT. The processing is carried out unbureaucratically through the responsible authorities, with the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy and Tourism responsible for quality assurance in company-based apprenticeship training. The measure is implemented based on § 19c BAG and grants all eligible participants full cost coverage up to the specified maximum amount.
