Promotion of Awareness for Environmental Protection and Sustainability

The Catholic School Foundation in the Diocese of Erfurt supports non-profit educational institutions in Thuringia with a grant program for the integration of environmental and climate protection into everyday school life. The aim is to promote projects, workshops, and extracurricular activities at Catholic schools in the Diocese of Erfurt that make sustainable action tangible. Applications can be submitted continuously; applications are possible at any time. The funding offer is exclusively aimed at Catholic schools in the Diocese of Erfurt and places special emphasis on practical teaching of energy efficiency, waste reduction, and renewable energies. Through financial support, scientific, artistic, and interdisciplinary formats are to be created that encourage students to take responsibility for climate and environment.

The program primarily supports projects that combine knowledge acquisition with action-oriented experiences – from gardening clubs to solar technology workshops to excursions to regional nature reserves. Sustainability education, climate protection, and resource efficiency are at the center. Through the funding, students gain a deeper understanding of ecological interrelationships and develop their own ideas for environmentally conscious actions. At the same time, the offer strengthens the schools' profile as learning places for sustainable development. Teachers and educational staff are encouraged to use interactive methods and initiate collaborations with experts from environmental institutions. This creates a vibrant network that empowers the next generation to become active shapers of a sustainable society.
