Description
The funding program “Promotion of Fisheries from the Fisheries Levy” supports private and public actors in Brandenburg, natural persons, companies, partnerships, as well as non-profit organizations in measures that strengthen the preservation and further development of fisheries. The goal is the sustainable improvement of the living conditions of native fish stocks, the scientific study of living and environmental conditions, as well as the prevention and control of fish diseases. Eligible projects include, in addition to fish stocking actions and monitoring measures, training and continuing education offers in water body management, as well as public relations and the preservation of fishing traditions. The program is situated within the thematic areas of environmental/nature conservation, agriculture & rural development, education & training, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection and is granted as partial project funding in the form of a non-repayable subsidy.
For the application, a formal application with a cost and financing plan must be submitted by April 30 of each fiscal year – last in 2027. Eligible expenses include personnel and material costs, costs for fish stocking, monitoring, and information measures. Projects must not have already started at the time of application. The funding rate varies depending on the measure, up to 90% of eligible expenses, and up to 80% for municipal applicants. Required documents include, among others, project description, cost and financing plan, application form, acknowledgment of guidelines, as well as statutes and the latest annual financial statement. With this funding, the State of Brandenburg makes a substantial contribution to the sustainable development of fisheries and to securing ecological and economic interests in water bodies.
