Description

Funding for the Practical Year (Elective General Medicine Tertial) is aimed at medical students who wish to complete their elective general medicine tertial in the Free State of Thuringia. The outpatient training experience is particularly strengthened in teaching physician practices located in towns and municipalities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants. Funded participants receive a monthly flat rate of €250 for a maximum of 16 weeks. The objective of this measure is to sustainably support medical care in rural areas of Thuringia and to further develop the outpatient sector as a training location. The funding aims to promote and maintain the attractive proximity to practice as well as the acquisition of competencies in the outpatient sector.

A prerequisite for the grant is enrollment in medical studies as well as completion of the elective tertial in a designated teaching physician practice in the Free State of Thuringia. The application must be submitted before or during the Practical Year, as retroactive consideration after completion of the PY is excluded. The official form, which can be completed and submitted to the funding provider, is required as an application document. The maximum funding duration is four months; the monthly flat rate covers all eligible expenses. Through the uncomplicated, continuously possible application process, the Foundation for the Promotion of Outpatient Medical Care in the Free State of Thuringia offers students reliable support on their way into rural medical practice.
