Promotion of the Replacement of Renewable Energy-Operated Heating Systems

The funding program of the State of Styria aims to replace traditional, renewable heating systems in single-family, two-family, and terraced houses with highly efficient local/district heating connections, biomass boilers, or modern heat pumps. Private individuals owning property in Styria can apply for a one-time investment cost subsidy of up to 30% of eligible expenses. A prerequisite is the replacement of a heating system that is at least 15 years old and the implementation of the project within 9 months after the application is submitted. With a total budget of 700,000 euros for the year 2026, the program makes a concrete contribution to increasing energy efficiency and reducing harmful emissions in residential use.

Applications can be submitted from February 1 to December 31, 2026. The procedure is handled online and does not require an income check or additional energy consultation. The funding motivates private owners to choose climate-friendly heating technologies and thereby supports the goals of the Climate and Energy Strategy 2030 plus of the State of Styria.
