Description
The funding initiative in the state of Salzburg supports non-profit organizations, companies, and freelance veterinarians in projects that serve the protection, welfare, and species-appropriate care of animals. With a non-repayable grant, animal shelters are strengthened in their daily work, conferences on current animal welfare topics are promoted, and the publication of practical animal welfare magazines as well as the presentation of animals at exhibitions are financially supported. In addition, sterilizations of semi-wild stray cats can be easily applied for in order to sustainably regulate populations. A personal contribution of 34 euros per cat is required, and all animals of a population must be treated before being released back at the original capture site. Payments are made directly to the applicants or involved veterinarians.
Since January 1, 2020, funding applications can be submitted continuously. A formal application with a project description, proof of payment, and, if applicable, veterinary sterilization vouchers is required. The aim of the measure is to initiate new animal welfare projects, sustainably stabilize existing facilities, and promote professional exchange through conferences and publications. Associations and initiatives in Salzburg thus receive a valuable opportunity to further develop proven concepts, raise public awareness of animal welfare, and contribute in the long term to regional climate protection and energy-efficient operations. There are no application deadlines; however, a timely proof of use is required.
