Description
The funding program of the Free State of Bavaria supports innovative, interdisciplinary local projects with a digital focus to strengthen regional identity and ensure equal living and working conditions in urban and rural areas. Funded are concepts that link at least two thematic areas – such as culture, infrastructure, health, or environmental protection – and implement digital solutions like apps, platforms, or smart applications. The goal is to increase the participation of all citizens, make rural and urban spaces more attractive, and sustainably promote a sense of local identity. Up to €300,000 per project is available for a duration of up to 36 months, with funding rates varying between 50 and 75 percent of eligible expenses depending on the priority region.
Eligible to apply are local authorities (districts, administrative regions, independent cities) as well as associations, foundations, non-profit entrepreneurial companies (limited liability), GmbHs, and other public or private legal entities in cooperation with a local authority. Eligible expenses include personnel costs, travel expenses, public relations, external consulting services, and investments in digital goods. To apply, a project outline must first be submitted and a consultation held with the State Ministry of Finance and for Homeland Affairs as well as the responsible government authority. Subsequently, the complete funding application can be submitted online or to the granting authority at any time. Selection is based on the level of innovation, interdisciplinary approach, contribution to spatial development, and strengthening of regional identity.
