Funding by the Central German Media Support GmbH (MDM)

The Central German Media Support (MDM) continuously offers grants and loans for creative and economically impactful audiovisual projects in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. Support is provided for all phases, from concept and project development through production, distribution, and exhibition to presentation at markets, fairs, and festivals. Further education and training measures in the media sector can also be funded. A prerequisite is proof of significant cultural and economic effects in Central Germany as well as the use of funds within the funding area. A minimum local expenditure of the approved funding amount ensures regional value creation and strengthens the location.

Eligible applicants are companies, start-ups, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations in the film and media industry. Screenwriters, producers, and media institutions developing or distributing innovative content benefit from flexible application procedures without fixed deadlines. The quality of the media production, regional use of funds, and the expected cultural and economic added value are evaluated. Eligible expenses include concept development, project development, production, distribution, exhibition, and qualification measures. For application submission, the corresponding MDM forms (development, production, distribution, exhibition) must be completed, and proof of use and final report must be submitted. Through partnership cooperation with the federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and broadcasting institutions, tailor-made financing offers are created, providing creative minds and companies in the region with optimal framework conditions.
