Description
The funding for awareness-raising and advisory services in cycling supports Upper Austrian municipalities in the planning and implementation of sustainable cycling infrastructures. From 01.01.2026 onwards, public institutions will receive free, comprehensive consultation through the FahrRad Beratung OÖ. Experts analyze existing conditions, develop packages of measures to increase the share of cycling traffic, and accompany participatory activities to achieve long-term changes in mobility behavior. The advisory services cover all steps from inventory and infrastructure conception to public relations and awareness-raising, thereby promoting a seamless transition between regional funding, infrastructure and urban development, as well as rural development.
Municipalities in Upper Austria can submit funding applications at any time until the budget is exhausted. A prerequisite for funding is that the planned measures align with the Upper Austria Mobility Framework and the Upper Austria Bicycle Strategy, and that the costs are reasonable and comply with funding criteria. Designed as a grant, this funding strengthens a sustainable mobility transition at the local level and offers administrations and the public the opportunity to jointly test innovative concepts. Through close support from the Department of Overall Traffic Planning and Public Transport of the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government, municipalities are empowered to successfully implement targeted and cost-effective cycling projects and significantly enhance the quality of life in their regions.
