Funding for Vehicles, Equipment, and Other Accessories - Lower Austria

The funding initiative of the State of Lower Austria is aimed at volunteer and company fire brigades as public law corporations and supports the acquisition of fire-fighting vehicles, equipment, and other gear. As a continuously available grant program, subsidies are granted in accordance with the funding guidelines of the State of Lower Austria and the Lower Austrian Fire Equipment Regulation. Funding is provided for new vehicles, equipment, and operational clothing that comply with the mandatory construction guidelines and equipment standards. The funding is tiered according to funding rates and takes into account the financial capacity of the respective municipality or company.

Eligible expenses include, among others, rescue vehicles, portable pumps, breathing apparatus, hydraulic rescue equipment, and service clothing. Applications can be submitted at any time; proof must include a fully completed funding application, cost estimate or invoice with qualified proof of payment, and—in the case of replacement acquisitions—evidence of the decommissioning of the old equipment. Applications are to be submitted to the Lower Austrian State Fire Brigade Association, which conducts both the technical review and the disbursement. The aim of the funding is to ensure a modern and operationally ready fire brigade infrastructure in order to sustainably strengthen protection and assistance in the event of disasters and hazards.
