Description

The Free State of Thuringia specifically promotes research-related new construction, expansions, conversions, and extensions in university buildings as well as their necessary initial furnishing. Within the framework of the ERDF funding period 2021–2027, funds are available for the planning, implementation, and equipment of scientific infrastructures. With a grant of up to 90 percent of eligible expenses, the program supports universities, universities of applied sciences, and comparable research institutions in acquiring modern laboratory spaces, innovative experimental halls, and highly specialized equipment, as well as installing them professionally. The continuous submission of applications allows for flexible project planning and contributes to strengthening the regional research landscape in Thuringia.

Eligible for funding are public universities and educational institutions in the Free State of Thuringia that enter into a formal agreement with the Thuringian Ministry of Economy, Agriculture and Rural Affairs (TMWLLR) to include their project in the ERDF initiative. A portal-based application via the ERDF funding portal and the submission of a project description including a commitment to a ten percent own contribution are required. Eligible expenses include both construction and planning costs as well as the procurement and connection of equipment for the initial furnishing of buildings. The combination of a high funding rate, thematic openness in the area of research & innovation, and regional anchoring makes this measure an attractive support for all universities in the state seeking to sustainably expand their scientific infrastructure.
