Description

The funding program supports international collaborative projects on AI-assisted robotics in cooperation with European and Japanese partners. The goal is the development of adaptive robotic systems for industry, healthcare, agriculture, and disaster management. Eligible for funding are companies, public institutions, as well as research and educational institutions from all over Germany. Projects with at least one partner in Japan and two partners in two different European countries are supported. A European and a Japanese project lead must be appointed, a written cooperation agreement concluded, and the potential for a long-term, sustainable cooperation demonstrated. State aid regulations must be observed when companies act as grant recipients.

Eligible expenses include personnel, material, and equipment costs as well as travel expenses. The maximum funding amount per project on the German side is EUR 180,000. Applications are submitted in a two-stage process: first, an English-language project outline by 22.07.2026 (10:00 a.m.) via the electronic outline tool PT-Outline, followed, after positive evaluation, by a formal application via the DLR Project Management Agency’s easy-Online system.
