Description
Since 2014, the funding for Carinthian publishers has supported publishing companies and initiatives that sustainably enrich literary, essayistic, and non-fiction work with a clear connection to Carinthia. The target group includes natural and legal persons, cooperatives, associations, and foundations that offer a high-quality program in fiction, essays, and non-fiction in the fields of visual arts, architecture, music, or design, thereby making the linguistic and cultural reality of Carinthia visible both regionally and beyond. The endowed grant in the form of a subsidy can be applied for continuously and supports projects, annual programs, as well as publication activities that reflect cultural diversity and make a significant contribution to the profiling of the Carinthian publishing landscape. Integration of the “Land Kärnten Kultur” logo on all publication media is part of the enhancement and transparency of the funding.
For the application, in addition to a detailed project description, a comprehensive financing plan must be submitted, breaking down all planned revenues, expenses, and own funds. Essential criteria include at least three years of publishing activity based in Carinthia, a minimum of five new releases per year, professional structures (ISBN assignment, distribution channels, trade fair appearances), as well as the employment of at least one socially insured employee. Costs incurred before the project start, companies in difficulty, or those that have not complied with EU recovery orders are not eligible for funding. Department 14 – Arts and Culture in the Office of the Carinthian State Government reviews all applications through a transparent procedure and emphasizes the importance of balance, quality, and regional relevance for the further strengthening of the publishing sector in Carinthia.
