Description

The State of Styria supports public institutions in Styria with one-time, non-repayable grants for the planning and implementation of measures that promote walking and enhance quality of life, traffic, and climate protection in town centers. Since the program launch on October 17, 2024, Styrian municipalities and municipal associations can continuously submit planning and project applications. Funding is provided particularly for the development of local pedestrian traffic concepts or local walking master plans, as well as structural and organizational measures in line with the Styria Pedestrian Traffic Strategy 2030+. The funding rate amounts to 50% of the recognized gross planning and implementation costs, with a project duration capped at a maximum of 36 months. The thematic scope ranges from infrastructure and digitization through smart cities & regions to climate protection, energy efficiency, health, child and youth promotion, and rural development.

Covered are planning services (individual and detailed planning, expert reports, official procedures) and implementation measures under Pillar I Infrastructure (e.g., sidewalk and crossing construction, lighting, green infrastructure) as well as accompanying services for organization, cooperation, communication, and citizen participation. Non-eligible are structural maintenance works, tourist trails, utility restoration, or advertising measures without awareness-raising character. Prerequisites for the grant are a project compliant with the guidelines, a mutually signed funding agreement, and project-appropriate implementation. Municipalities will be informed of submission deadlines in due time depending on available funds. Required application documents include a project description with a rough concept, planning documents, schedule, and cost estimate.
