Description

The funding according to the "Green Infrastructure" guideline supports innovative projects in North Rhine-Westphalia aimed at the creation, preservation, restoration, and improvement of near-natural structures. With a financial contribution of up to 80 percent of the eligible costs, the program contributes to increasing biodiversity, improving air and water quality, and climate protection. The focus is on intelligent, integrative concepts such as greening building facades, creating biodiversity-rich parks, or the removal of sealing from surfaces. Additionally, the guideline promotes environmental education and extracurricular nature conservation education measures to strengthen sustainable awareness across all age groups and to foster sustainable development.

Eligible are public and non-profit actors such as municipalities and municipal associations, sponsoring associations of biological stations, nature parks, foundations with nature conservation statutes, recognized nature conservation associations, as well as other legal entities under public and private law. For planning measures, such as green and open space concepts, only municipalities may submit applications. A prerequisite is that the measure has not yet begun at the time of approval and that the location is in North Rhine-Westphalia. The application process is possible at any time within the current funding period. Participants submit a detailed project description, a justification of the funding necessity, a detailed cost calculation, and a site plan (district, section, parcel(s)). After administrative and nature conservation technical review, the funding decision is issued by the Arnsberg District Government, which, as a modern service center, provides a wide range of advisory and administrative services for funding projects in environmental and climate protection.
