Description

Funding in the field of monument preservation in Styria supports the conservation and restoration of field monuments and sacred objects. Among others, chapels, wayside shrines, plague and boundary columns, field crosses, as well as culturally and historically significant testimonies of folk cultural life and war memorials are funded. Restoration measures on parish and filial churches or other sacred objects can also be supported with a non-repayable grant. The funding serves not only to protect historical substance but also contributes, through the use of specialized craft techniques, to the preservation of traditional professions and the strengthening of regional identities. Applications can be submitted at any time and must be filed before the start of the project to ensure timely review.

Eligible applicants are private individuals, associations, church institutions, and municipal bodies who are owners or custodians of monuments in Styria. The grant is provided as a subsidy and requires verifiable regional relevance. The following documents are essential for the application: the applicable funding guidelines, the online form in the folk culture section, the information sheet, an income/expenditure statement, and a list of receipts. After project completion, a funding report must be submitted within three months. There is no legal entitlement to funding; grants are awarded according to available financial resources and funding guidelines. The administration is handled by the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government, Department 9 Culture, Europe, External Relations.
