Description
The German Research Foundation (DFG) offers an ongoing open funding line to support international collaborations across all disciplines. Eligible applicants include research institutions, public entities, as well as private individuals affiliated with a German university or research institution both domestically and abroad. The objective is to initiate, intensify, and carry out joint research projects with international partners. Funding covers travel expenses, funds for guest stays, and bilateral workshops. A prerequisite is a cooperation project involving at least one partner abroad. Evaluation is based on scientific excellence and the significance of international networking. The DFG typically finances the German part of the project; co-financing for the foreign part can be provided by other funding organizations, universities, or alternative sponsors.
Applications can be submitted at any time. The basis for the funding application is Information Sheet 52.01 (Form 52.01-246730) as well as supplementary guidelines for D-A-CH (Form 54.018-246846) and D-LUX (Form 54.015-246840). The funding is aimed at researchers at German universities and non-university research institutions as well as their international cooperation partners. The procedure is open to all topics and competes with all other DFG applications. By supporting bilateral workshops, travel costs, and guest stays, sustainable networks are strengthened and long-term scientific exchange is promoted. Interested researchers can find all necessary documents in the DFG’s form collections and may submit their proposals without a fixed deadline to promptly realize international project ideas.
