Description
The funding of intercultural projects by the City of Munich – Department of Culture supports Munich-based cultural practitioners as well as groups, associations, initiatives, and non-profit organizations that artistically or culturally address diversity, tolerance, and social cohesion. The aim is to provide financial security for intercultural events and project work dealing with migration, diaspora, cultural heritage, or intercultural openness. Eligible to apply are individuals residing or primarily working in Munich, as well as associations and interest groups with a cultural focus. Applications can be submitted continuously, with the funding application ideally being submitted at least eight weeks before the project start date.
Grants of up to €10,000 are provided for expenses such as fees and personnel costs, rental of rehearsal and event spaces, technical and material costs, travel, advertising, specialist literature, acquisitions, and fees (e.g., GEMA). Political party events or internal meetings, anniversaries, festivals, parties, and jubilees are not eligible for funding. Evaluation criteria include the intercultural relevance, promotion of diversity and tolerance, as well as the artistic quality and feasibility of the project. Application submission requires a completed application form, a project description including date and location, a detailed cost and financing plan, and depending on the legal form, copies of identification or registration extracts. The funding initiative strengthens Munich’s cultural diversity through artistic impulses and contributes to an open, democratic urban society.
