Description

The funding program “Guarantee Fund − Higher Education Sector (RL-GF-H)” supports young immigrants with residence rights throughout Germany in preparing for studies and accessing higher education. It provides a grant for preparatory language courses in German (level C1) and English (level B2) as well as for seminars and subject-specific preparatory courses for Studienkolleg and for obtaining the German Fachhochschul- or university entrance qualification. The funding is available nationwide and can be utilized for a maximum of 30 months. Applications can be submitted continuously and are reviewed and recommended by the Guarantee Fund Higher Education (GF-H) educational counseling. The program is administered by the Otto Benecke Foundation on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, Family, Seniors, Women and Youth.

Eligible to participate are immigrants under 30 years of age who are not subject to full-time compulsory schooling and have recognized residence rights, for example under asylum, refugee protection, subsidiary protection, or family reunification. A prerequisite for funding is that there is no entitlement to other benefits for the same purpose and that the attended courses comply with the GF-H course concept. Only course and seminar fees directly related to study preparation are funded. The program aims to enable equal opportunities for higher education studies and to sustainably strengthen individual study readiness. Further information on application and counseling is provided directly through the GF-H educational counseling centers.
