Description
The State of Styria supports the participation of children and adolescents from low-income families, families with multiple children, and single parents in holiday activity weeks through a voluntary subsidy. The aim of the measure is to relieve working parents and guardians in balancing family and work and to enable children aged 5 to 15 years to enjoy affordable, supervised holiday activities. Participation in offers lasting at least five days – optionally with overnight stay or full-day care of at least eight hours – is subsidized with a grant covering 80 % of the rotation costs. Eligible are working parents, adoptive and foster parents, or guardians with a shared main residence in Styria and entitlement to family allowance for the child or children.
The granting of the subsidy requires an average household net income below the poverty risk threshold and is only provided for offers conducted by recognized sponsoring organizations in accordance with the guidelines for children’s holiday activity weeks. The application must include, among other documents, registration certificates of all persons living in the household, proof of family allowance entitlement, income tax assessments for the relevant holiday semester, as well as evidence of other income and funding commitments. Applications must be submitted at least four weeks (online) or six weeks (paper) before the start of the holiday; the decision is made in writing. Information on the electronic submission process and assistance is provided by the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government, Department 6 – Specialist Department Society, Funding Management.
