Description
The “Small Renovation” program of the State of Styria supports owners, tenants, and building rights holders of residential buildings and homes in a variety of renovation measures. Funding is provided, among other things, for improving the thermal quality of building envelopes, the energetic modernization of building services, safety-related measures (fire protection, flood protection, burglary protection), as well as renovation works such as wall drying or the installation of passenger elevators. Entitlement to a one-time, non-repayable grant amounting to 15% of the eligible costs exists after completion of the work and submission no later than two years from the invoice date. New applications are currently suspended until the first quarter of 2026; ongoing applications in process remain unaffected. The maximum funding amount depends on the achieved eco-points and ranges between €4,500 and €50,000 per dwelling and between €80,000 and €100,000 per building.
Required for the application are, among others, the fully completed funding application, a current land register excerpt or proof of tenancy, officially approved plans for projects requiring approval, as well as invoices from authorized companies (minimum €3,000, individual invoices from €200). Photovoltaic projects additionally require photos of the installation. For measures requiring building permits, these must be at least 30 years old. Allocation is based on criteria such as sustainability, energy efficiency, and eco-points. A detailed overview of eligible and non-eligible expenses as well as necessary documents can be found in the respective funding guidelines of the Office of the Styrian State Government, Department 15 – Energy, Housing, Technology. Interested parties can obtain information about the annual continuation and adjustment of funding conditions to optimally plan their modernization projects.
