Description

The funding program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is aimed at public institutions that operate a municipal integration center as districts or independent cities. It is intended to strengthen municipal integration work and thus make a significant contribution to social participation. The goal is to support a variety of measures with a grant, ranging from local coordination and networking to renovation and digitization measures, as well as the qualification of volunteers. This support creates sustainable structures that are particularly important in the context of integrating refugees and newly arrived migrants.

Eligible expenses include, among others, costs for renovation, equipment, operating expenses, as well as digital measures and costs for coordination and qualification. A prerequisite for receiving the grant is the existence of a coordinated and updated integration concept and the provision of suitable premises. In addition, applicants must commit to participating in supra-regional experience exchange and to setting thematic priorities every two years in coordination with local actors involved in integration work. These measures are intended to enable the centers to operate independently and sustainably and to further advance integration locally.

The funding program underscores North Rhine-Westphalia’s commitment to promoting and professionalizing innovative and independent concepts in municipal integration work. It offers districts and independent cities the opportunity to further develop and future-proof their existing integration centers. Particular emphasis is placed on sustainable integration and participation, which is reflected in the clearly defined evaluation criteria. Applications must be submitted by the end of October for the following year, thereby timely providing impetus for new and advanced projects. The granted subsidy not only improves financial resources but also strengthens content exchange and cooperation with local actors – an important step towards an inclusive and solidaristic society.
