Description

The Possehl Foundation supports outstanding research and teaching projects at the universities in Lübeck as well as diverse art and cultural projects in the Hanseatic city. Educational institutions, non-profit organizations, interest groups, and associations based in Schleswig-Holstein can apply for grants for scientific excellence, endowed professorships, or technical equipment. Additionally, artistic initiatives and musical events are supported to sustainably enrich the cultural life in Lübeck. The central objectives are the strengthening of research & innovation, the cultural relevance of innovative projects, and a clear public benefit for the urban community.

Applications can be submitted at any time via the Foundation’s online funding portal and must be received no later than three weeks before the respective meeting date of the executive committee. Eligible costs include personnel and material expenses, technical acquisitions, as well as event costs. The application must include a detailed project description, a transparently itemized financing plan, and the curricula vitae of the responsible project leaders. Evaluation criteria are scientific quality, societal added value, and cultural significance in Lübeck. A prerequisite for funding is a registered office in the Hanseatic city and timely submission of the application via the portal. Experts and cultural practitioners thus have the opportunity to implement innovative ideas in research, teaching, and artistic creation, thereby further advancing the “beautiful and good” in Lübeck.
