Description
The ANINOVA Foundation supports vegan-oriented animal sanctuaries nationwide that provide rescued farm animals with a permanent, protected living space and enshrine animal welfare in accordance with § 52 para. 2 no. 14 AO in their statutes. Six funds specifically allocate resources for operating costs, emergency measures, infrastructure projects, the development of young sanctuaries, veterinary care, and public relations. Commercial animal use or breeding is strictly prohibited. Excluded expenses include retroactive costs (except for the Animal Health and Fire Brigade Funds) as well as double or excessive funding of already supported projects. The selection process, based on criteria such as animal population, husbandry, project rationale, transparency, networking, and sustainability, ensures effective allocation of funds that supports the long-term viability of the facilities.
Applications are submitted online within specified deadlines: the Basic, Communication, and Animal Health Funds can each be applied for from February 1 to May 1 and from July 1 to October 1; the Development and Infrastructure Funds until May 1; while the Fire Brigade Fund remains open at all times. Required documents include, among others, a current tax exemption certificate, financial reports, budget overview, statutes, project photos, quotations, sketches, and veterinary assessments; a short application video is optional. After a self-check and fund selection, the application is reviewed formally and substantively, a site visit may be conducted if necessary, and funding decisions are made. Successful applicants sign a binding code of conduct and subsequently document fund usage through project reports. This transparent procedure ensures that funding reaches those places where it sustainably strengthens the protection and welfare of rescued animals.
