Funding for Museums

The Museum Funding in Vorarlberg supports public institutions in the sustainable development and quality assurance of their organizations. Eligible recipients are those museums registered with the Austrian Museums Association as part of the museum registration process. With an open submission deadline, investment projects are annually supported with direct grants for structural measures, museum furnishings, collection expansions, as well as the implementation of events and exhibitions. A particular focus is placed on mutually agreed projects that transparently represent construction and maintenance costs and offer both a professional and long-term perspective on cultural mediation.

The aforementioned expenses are funded taking into account the evaluation criteria of Quality Assurance and Mutual Project Development. A prerequisite for application is museum registration in Vorarlberg. The application must include a detailed project description as well as a comprehensive breakdown of total costs with an income and expenditure plan. The decision is based on the completeness of the documentation and the professional justification for strengthening the museum offering. The Department of Culture of the Vorarlberg State Government supports applicants throughout the process and ensures transparent handling up to the disbursement in multiple installments.
