Funding Music

The funding program “Promotion of Music” of the State of Vorarlberg strengthens the regional music culture through targeted grants for musical achievements. Supported are concerts, CD productions, world premieres, compositions, and concert tours, as well as events by established music associations and organizers. In addition, scholarships, honorary and promotional awards, as well as composition prizes awarded biennially, are granted. With an annual budget of approximately 1.61 million euros, the program contributes to the remuneration of artists, coverage of production and travel costs, as well as material expenses. The administration is carried out by the Department of Culture within the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, which regularly reports on disbursements. Project and annual grants may be submitted continuously, while concert funding should be applied for at least three months prior to the planned event date.

Eligible to participate are professional and semi-professional musicians, composers, music associations, and organizers with a personnel or content-related connection to Vorarlberg. A prerequisite is the State’s particular interest in the realization of the project as well as a fully completed application form including all required attachments: project description, planned performance venues, information on participants including artist biographies, marketing concept, detailed cost breakdown, CD or audio sample, and event announcement. The amount of funding is based on the requested artist fees; for world premieres of works by Vorarlberg composers, the funding rate is increased. Upon positive approval, payment is made in flexible installments or after review of the final accounting. This program sustainably supports and further develops the vibrant and high-quality music scene in Vorarlberg.
